Where. To. Begin…..
Well, as you may have seen from a couple of my latest blog posts, I recently flew half way around the world to shoot a wedding on the incredible island of Boracay. Its quite a special place, and until Declan had emailed me 5 weeks previously, I have to admit, I’d not heard of it.
It took us 2 days, 3 flights, a coach trip, a boat ride and a tuck tuck to get us to the island, but by god was it worth it. I must have thanked Ebony and Declan a dozen times now for getting us out there, but I’m beyond grateful. I’m sure they’re sick of hearing me say it, but thank you, you guys are crazy good!! Not even 2 years ago I shot Declans brothers wedding at Osmaston park in Derby, an amazing day, it was one of the first and it started me on a journey that still doesn’t quite feel real.
I never underestimate the importance of my job nor the trust that my clients put in me to document their wedding, so to even be asked to go to Boracay Island and shoot a wedding, let alone take my family and do it, means more than I could ever describe.
All of the guests spent the Tuesday on a boat cruising round the neighbouring islands, catching up after long journeys. There may have been some drinking, and I hear there was definitely some cliff diving! We spent a few days getting used to the heat, and from a photography POV, the high levels of intense light!
The wedding itself was the pinnacle of an amazing week on the island. Myself and my family had been made to feel extremely welcome, not just by the locals, but all of Ebony and Declans friends and family, we definitely felt part of the wedding. It took place at the incredible Asya Premier suites on station 3 of the island, it was hot, very hot!!
I’m sure that all of the guests, but mostly Declan and Ebony will agree, it was an incredibly special week. I know it will be a memory that we look back on with huge smiles for many years to come, and who knows, we may just have to go back one day…..
