Another year chalked off, 6 as a wedding photographer?! How the hell did that happen?!
I know I’ll sound like a broken record saying this, and I feel as though I say it every year, but this job never ceases to amaze me. The people I get to meet and the locations I get to visit make me feel like one very lucky so and so. This year has been no exception; it started with 2 UK weddings covered in snow, it’s taken me to Copenhagen, Tuscany, France and allowed me to visit Ibiza for the first time. Unlike previous years, there was no real let up over the winter months for me, hence this post coming a little later than usual. When I’d usually be winding down, instead I was off to Puglia, I spoke at the incredible Nine Dots Gathering in London, hosted 2 workshops, and had a couple of incredible winter weddings in the Cotswolds. This is by no means a complaint, I genuinely could not have asked for a better year. In so many ways, it has exceeded every single expectation I had coming into it.
On a personal note, 2018 was another cracker, highlights included; taking the kids to London for a week, watching Betsy compete at gymnastics, holidaying in Ibiza, attending the Ballet for the first time with Jemma, a Brighton getaway, Buddy telling me I’m his best friend (he may have told other people this!), and of course…. I don’t know if I told anyone, but I got a new bike, which is going to come in handy this year as I tackle one of the biggest personal challenges I’ve ever set myself…. *gulps*…. by attempting a full Ironman! *gulps* I’m not completely sure what possessed me to sign up for it, I know wine and Ibiza were involved, but I’ll also be doing it for a couple of good causes, so watch this space on insta, and if you can spare a couple of quid, I’ll love you long time!! Prayers are also welcomed!
So I think that’s about it from me. If you’re reading this and you asked me to your wedding in 2018, thank you so so much. I’ve loved all of the laughs, hugs, tears and semi-naked dancing we’ve shared!! Genuinely, the decision couples make that results in “hey Sam, can you come to our wedding” never gets underestimated or taken for granted. And if you’ve asked me to bring cameras to your wedding in 2019, well, I’ll be seeing you very soon! *wink + sticky out tongue face*!!!
