*goes off to google ‘Humdinger’* – yep, that’s the word I need for this Chateau La Durantie wedding!!!

A few weeks back was a first for me, it was the first time I flew to France for consecutive weddings, and naturally when you return from such a trip, people ask you ‘how was it’, and honestly, I’ve struggled to find the right words. On reflection, it was one the craziest and most brilliant weeks of my career as a wedding photographer. Amélie and Steve contributed enormously to the smile that I found myself taking back to Bordeaux airport on that hot Wednesday afternoon!! Their wedding at the stunning Chateau La Durantie in Lanouaille was nothing short of remarkable, but I knew from Steve and Amélie’s initial enquiry that I had to be at their wedding in the Dordogne. They left it late, based over in Sydney, I think they enquired with only a couple of months to go, but my gut feeling from the initial email that it was to be a good one, was spot on…. and I only met these guys the day before, so I can only imagine how good the day must have been to their friends and family, some of whom had travelled from the other side of the globe! I’m sure those journeys and the collective airmiles were all worth it for the smell of the champagne alone, let alone the dancing, eating, fireworks and laughs that followed!!!!

A few quick things to mention before I let you get stuck into the images…

1. Steve, your 20 minute battle to get your shoes on will stay with me for many many years to come, but it was totally worth it, they looked absolutely mega mate!!! I’m sat here smiling whilst I remember your struggle! The struggle was real folks!

2. Amélie, and more specifically Amélie’s parents, you guys can move!!!! If I had an award for the best dancers I’ve seen at a wedding, I’d be posting it to you right now!!!

3. To Amélie’s mum, I’m sorry I stood them in front of the closed Butchers store when we had a stunning French church behind us, but I couldn’t help myself. I hope you can forgive me.

4. Can we get fireworks at every wedding please?!!!

And finally, 5. I need to visit Australia…….
