France just never ceases to amaze me!! I’ve visited the country most years since I can even remember, I’ve been to the north west, the south coast, paris, the alps, and everywhere in between (we’ll skip over the fact I speak very minimal french!!!!), and I always leave wishing I could just stay a few more days! I’ve been fortunate as a wedding photographer to visit some wonderful places in France that I would just never have dreamt of visiting, but this was my first time to the amazing Château de Cazenac, nestled in the Dordogne region of the south of France, and WOW!!! Like serious WOW!!! I get why and Ali and Ben fell in love with it for their wedding, as French Chateau’s go, it has it alll; views across the stunning Dordogne valley, beautiful woodland walks, architecture to knock your socks off, and the most eclectic art collection and photographs that adorn the numerous walls. Also to note, the surrounding villages are something else, and I can highly recommend (thanks to Ali), paying a visit to Nicoles Pizza van on the Friday night. Just pop down to the village of Coux-et-Bigaroque, you can’t miss it!! Whilst your down that way, take a walk over the bridge to Siorac-en-Périgord!! You can thank me later!
I met up with Ali and Ben on the Friday afternoon to go through the plans for the wedding, and once we’d been over the logistics for the following day, it was time to take a walk around the grounds;
Holy smokes, this was all the day before the wedding!!!! Now, I’m not going to lie, the wedding day didn’t quite start as planned. The sun that had set the sky on fire the night before, decided to go AWOL!!! I feared the worst for Ali and Ben. You couldn’t even see clouds, it was just grey and drizzle. On arriving at the Chateau, I would have given the chances of an outdoor ceremony at around 5%!!! And that folks is why I’m not a betting man, because a couple of hours before the ceremony a few holes started to appear in the sky, and by the time we got to the ceremony, there was no sign of the miserable morning we’d all had to encounter. So here it is, a very memorable weekend at Château de Cazenac in the South of France, with Ali, Ben and their closest friends and family;
