AMY + KRISS – [Wedding, Swancar Farm – Nottingham]

Its an amazing privilege to spend a day photographing a couple on one of the biggest days of their lives, I can’t help but feel like I’ve known them for years by the time I pack my kit away for the night. When the couple and guests that I’m with are made up of people I spent my teenage years with at secondary school, it makes for a pretty special day, and this really was. Back in October I shot Amy and Kriss’s wedding at Swancar Farm in Nottinghamshire (here’s the SNEAK PREVIEW if you haven’t seen it), I was naturally a little apprehensive about it in the morning (probably not as much as the bride), and I was conscious I was there as a photographer first, not as a guest. Amy, Kriss, their family and friends couldn’t have been more amazing though, it was great to see so many familiar faces, but the day was never about catching up with old friends, it was always about Amy and Kriss.

The day itself probably couldn’t have gone any better, the weather did a complete u-turn from early mid-week predictions and we ended up with an amazing autumnal sunny day, topped off with a red sky later on in the evening. The day kicked off in the Red Cow in Allestree, a little pub in a suburb of Derby that most of us grew up in (the suburb, not the pub that is!!). After a couple of ‘dutch courage’ pints, everyone piled into the minibus and set off for Swancar Farm where bridal preparations were already in full swing. The rest of the day was a bit of a whirlwind, but I can safely say that Amy and Kriss loved every minute of it, as did all of their guests, although for about half an hour, I don’t think Fred would agree!!!! Somebody had a few too many shandy’s, hey Fred?!!!
