I’m not gonna lie, I’m so excited to be getting Janine and Tom on the blog today! For a couple of reasons really; firstly, the venue they picked not only happens to be one of the coolest I’ve shot at, but it also sits directly opposite my office, it’s so close, I could throw a stone at it!! I won’t, but just so you know, I could!!! The West Mill wedding venue opened in Darley Abbey last summer, after what must have been a mammoth job (it’s Grade I listed!), and the anticipation of shooting there has been huge. It’s been lovingly and tastefully restored, and I love how stripped back it feels inside, they’ve really kept the character and charm of the building when I’m sure others might have just bombarded it with plasterboard (there’s no plasterboard in sight!!). I’m sure all of Janine and Tom’s guests would agree, it’s a perfect building for a wedding, with each level serving a different purpose. You never have to see staff “turning round” the room!!
So the venue is ace, but that doesn’t necessarily make for a great wedding, it’s a start, but you need much more than that. Which brings me onto the 2nd reason for my excitement of blogging this day; Janine and Tom! Cue the cheesy bit…. and I’m not afraid to say it, but they’re kind of like my perfect couple!!! From the moment we started talking they’ve been completely relaxed (although I’m sure there were moments!), just wanting all of their friends and family to enjoy themselves and have a lovely day. From a photography POV, they couldn’t have been more trusting of me, no demands were ever placed, and I was just encouraged to have a good day. And what a day I had! The venue didn’t disappoint, Tom and Janine delivered (they both looked well fit!), and their friends and family were amazing fun. To top it all off, we had 4 seasons in one day, it doesn’t get much better, does it?
