After such a busy summer and autumn of weddings, it was really nice to pick up the camera for a little stroll around Birmingham with Alex from Xander Photography. I’m really conscious as a photographer that it can be quite easy to leave the camera at home when I’m not working, but I do what I do because I love the spontaneity of little meets like this, visiting people and places that aren’t the norm. Not that Alex isn’t normal, he’s a lovely chap, but its little shoots like this that as a photographer, keep you on your toes, keep you thinking and looking for shots that you might sometimes miss. For me, there is nothing worse than seeing a shot and regretting the decision to leave my camera at home. Ok, I have an iPhone, but it’s never the same.

So, this was a pre-christmas stroll around the Custard Factory and backstreets of Digbeth, it was quite dark and moody, and we may have been asked by security to stop taking pictures of the Bullring;
