Aswarby Rectory, an exclusive wedding venue in Sleaford, has been on my radar for several years now. It stands out as a luxury country house and wedding venue in the heart of Lincolnshire, and when you check out their insta, you can clearly see why it’s a photographers dream! But if you work in the wedding industry, you’ll know just how frustrating it can be when an enquiry lands for a wedding venue that you know will be a great fit for your brand, you go to check out the diary, and your gut feeling about the date already been taken turns out to be true… you’re already booked and have to send that enquiry elsewhere. ☹️
I’ve lost count of how many enquiries I’ve had to turn away for Aswarby Rectory since first starting out as a wedding photographer just over 10 years ago…so, when Chloe and Tim’s enquiry landed, via the recommendation of the super talented Make Up By Jodie, and it was a December date, this one felt different!! And as the famous saying goes “good things come to those who wait”, Chloe and Tim could not have been a more welcoming or wonderful couple to work with, although saying “work” doesn’t feel apt in this instance. Totally relaxed and full of absolute trust in me to document their day, at a venue that lived up to the hype, and it’s safe to say this day did not disappoint. I often reflect that my best work comes from that feeling of complete ease and trust a couple make me feel, along with a shared sense of creativity and energy; and within minutes of speaking to Chloe and Tim, I felt like we’d been mates for years.
There’s always an air of intimacy at a winter wedding; they tend to be smaller numbers, candle lit spaces, less daylight, a little more relaxed (although I’m sure Chloe and Tim would tell me otherwise!) and from the outside, they seem to carry less pressure/expectation to that of a big summer wedding, but that doesn’t mean for a second they don’t deliver an incredible day or experience. Every single person, whether that be close family or guest, or even a supplier, each and every one felt the energy and atmosphere of this day, and for Chloe and Tim, I’m not sure you could ask for more that that?!
