Wedding Photographer of the Year – TWIA East Midlands

Ok, so it’s been a pretty special year so far in the Docker household (following a not too bad 2014!!!!), as a family we’ve moved house and welcomed little Buddy Ray into the world. It doesn’t get much better than that, but I’ve also been fortunate to shoot some incredible weddings this year with some truly wonderful couples. I’ve travelled to Wales, Girona, Edinburgh, Liverpool, Toulouse, Cornwall and Northumberland to name just a few.

Then, just a few weeks ago, I was named one of Rangefinder Magazines Rising Stars of 2015, in the friggin world!!!!!!! I still can’t quite believe it. And then, just when things couldn’t really get much more awesome, whilst at the NineDots Gathering in London, word came in from the twitter world that I had been named “East Midlands Wedding Photographer of the year” at The Wedding Industry Awards! I definitely was not refreshing twitter every 5 seconds around 9pm on Tuesday night!!!! After just missing out last year, and seeing the wealth of talent in this years entries, I couldn’t be more delighted or honoured to have won. The factor that makes this award even more special though, is that all of my couples from the past 12 months have voted and provided feedback. They’ve all taken time out to vote for me, and that’s something I can’t thank them enough for. If you’re reading this, and you voted for me this year, a huge thank you.

I could have never dreamt that just taking an old film camera to my cousins wedding 3-4 years ago would have ever led to this. But it doesn’t stop here, I always want to deliver amazing images to my couples, to improve and continually be better. The award process now moves onto London in January for the grand final, where I’ll compete with the other regional winners. I think I might need to treat the wife to a new dress!! That can be a business expense, right?!!
