As wedding venues go in Tuscany, few are as impressive as Villa Catureglio. Situated close to the walled town of Lucca, this 13th century building is the perfect location for anyone dreaming of a destination wedding in Italy.
Al fresco dining anyone?! I mean is there a more picturesque backdrop for a wedding meal than the stunning hills of Tuscany?! You can very quickly see why Dani and Carlo were so hooked on Villa Catureglio as the location for their Italian wedding. It really is a dream venue for a wedding photographer in Tuscany!
Not only was the weather incredible, but if you’ve never been to Tuscany, I can tell you that they know how to feed you out there, and the wine they wash it down with isn’t bad either!! The only major issue is that you have to come home!

It’s funny, no sooner am I back home, I’m already hoping and looking forward to the next trip, I’m not even sure if I can explain why. I think as a wedding photographer, there’s no doubt the light and location Tuscany has to offer is hugely satisfying and rewarding.
I’ve yet to shoot anywhere else that can match the light you get for the final couple of hours in Tuscany, it just seems to hang there, and combined with the muted greens of the olive trees, and the dry/bright gravelled paths, it just makes any of your subjects skin tone look extra yummy!
I’ve been fortunate now to shoot weddings regularly in Italy, but this experience and trip will always stand out and live long in the memory. Every time I return to Tuscany and meet new couples or suppliers, I instantly feel like it’s a second home now. It’s a special place!
