There’s something very special and unique about weddings in France, it’s a country that holds a special place in my heart as we often went travelling across the country as a family.
So when Steve emailed me about availability for his and Amélie’s wedding in the Dordogne, it instantly triggered fond memories. Not only that, you can often pick up a vibe from an email, a vibe that suggests whether you’re the right fit for the couple or not, and I can still remember opening that email and thinking, “I need to be at this wedding”.
Not only was it at Chateau La Durantie, a venue I’d seen through some other suppliers, but Steve and Amélie were incredibly laid back and relaxed. Most importantly though, they were passionate about making sure the day was documented in a manner that was reflective of their personalities, whilst making sure their friends and family, whom had travelled from all over the world, had the experience of a lifetime.
style goals in france!!
Amélie and Steve contributed enormously to the smile that I found myself taking back to Bordeaux airport on that hot Wednesday afternoon following the wedding!! Their day at the stunning Chateau La Durantie in Lanouaille was nothing short of remarkable, so I can only imagine how good the day must have been to their friends and family, some of whom had travelled from the other side of the globe! I’m sure those journeys and the collective airmiles were all worth it for the smell of the champagne alone, let alone the dancing, eating, fireworks and laughs that followed!!!!
As wedding venues in France go, this one ticks all the boxes!! Chateau La Durantie is simply breathtaking. From a practical POV, I’ve got my dad hat on here, it’s easily accessible from Bordeaux airport, which is a huge help if you’re planning a wedding in France. The beaches and towns down the west coast of France are an absolute must, but the south coast is also not too far away should guests wish to make a week of it!
Back to the Chateau, the building and grounds are immaculate, there’s no doubting the wow factor as soon as the house reveals itself on the drive in.

“Sam,
Mate! Mate!! Maaatteeee!!!!!
These are nothing short of exceptional!! Thank you so much for sending through so quickly. We came across some WiFi when stopping for petrol on the way home and couldn’t believe it when we saw the gallery already waiting for us. We then proceeded to make a bit of a scene (and a few locals uncomfortable) as laughed our way through each of the photos. They are absolutely stunning and beyond what we could have hoped for even in our wildest dreams!!– Amélie and Steve, 2018
It was an absolute privilege to have you with us as we celebrated and you surpassed even the lofty standards we thought you would deliver. The feedback from absolutely everyone was how great you were and how incredibly dedicated and professional you were from the wine tasting, right the way through to the last rum and coke spilled on the dance floor. Honestly, we cannot thank you enough.”
