Fasten your seatbelts folks, we’ve got a rollercoaster of a destination wedding right here! One of those days that really makes me wish I could get married again (don’t worry Jemma, there are no plans!!!)!!!! I’ve been fortunate to shoot a few weddings in France this year, but this time it’s the turn of Charlotte and Julians day at Chateau De Malliac, in the stunning Gers region of SW France, to hit the blog. I’ve been itching to get this one published from the moment I got back in my fiat 500 rental at the end of that crazy night in August!!

The plans for this day were laid back in 2013 when I photographed Scarlett and Dan’s wedding in Fleetwood, talk about setting the bar high!!! Charlotte and Julian were bridesmaid and groomsman that day, and were “coincidentally” sitting next to each other!! Scarlet and Dan may or may not have sat them next to each other, but either way, something happened!! I remember looking back at the images from that day when the email for “will you shoot our wedding” landed, and it was pretty clear to see they hit it off big time, they had the look of a couple who were already crazily in love with each other, both beaming from ear to ear like 2 excited kids on Christmas morning!! Those enormous smiles and their infectious lust for life shows no sign of letting up, and it was clear for all to see in France, I’m not sure you could wish to meet a couple more suited to each other. I don’t think the word ‘negative’ exists within their vocabulary, my kind of people!!

They opted to travel to France to celebrate with their friends and family, a decision that I have no doubt couldn’t have gone much better!! Everybody gathered in the local and beautiful village of Montreal the night before the wedding for food and drinks, drinks and some more drinks!!! Holiday spirit and excitement levels were running high. There really is something very special about guests making the effort to travel away for a wedding, I’m sure when a couple make that decision to announce they’ll be getting married abroad, that there is an air of doubt, but there really shouldn’t be. It was clear to see why Chateau De Malliac appealed to Charlotte and Julian, the open courtyard and surrounding grounds were nothing short of stunning. They just needed the weather to play ball!!!! But it did, and what a day it turned out to be….

It was amazing to see some familiar faces too, obviously Scarlett and Dan (and the 2 amazing mini-humans they’ve made since 2013!), the naked tutu guy, flex and many more from that day in 2013, but also the wonderful Patricia from Country Weddings in France, who worked tirelessly all day to make sure the wedding ran to schedule. So here it is, Charlotte and Julians wedding from the South West of France; full of smiles, laughter, the perfect tear, dancing, an incredible Yolan Cris gown, drinking, the 1993 A/W NEXT catalogue, standing on tables, more drinking, and to top it all off, a little bit of male nakedness!!!!!
